The Apple Sainte-Catherine store in Montreal will be closed “until further notice” due to COVID-19 conditions.
“We take this step with an abundance of caution as we closely monitor the situation and we look forward to having our teams and customers back as soon as possible,” Apple said. The company would not confirm whether there was a positive case of COVID-19 at the store
Apple shuttered the store Friday, according to Montreal’s CTV News. None of the other 29 Apple stores in Canada appear to have been temporarily closed.
Quebec reported 104 new COVID-19 infections this past weekend, with an additional three deaths as a result of the virus. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 5,695 deaths in the province.
Apple closed all its retail stores outside Greater China in March. At the time, Apple said the stores would remain closed through March 27. That date was pushed back several times. They eventually began reopening in May. To protect customers from COVID-19, Apple has instituted various safety measures. These include temperature checks, social distancing and more.
