The Survivalists, which debuted Friday on Apple Arcade, shows that being shipwrecked on a deserted island doesn’t have to be a disaster. Players can train monkeys to make life comfortable. And there’s plenty of adventure to be found in this game for 1 to 4 players.

The Survivalists: So many monkeys

After being shipwrecked, players of Team17’s latest creation need to explore, build and craft to survive. The island, which is unique to each player, is guarded by bands of orcs, and there are other animals to hunt… or be hunted by.

Build a home to keep your precious supplies from being stolen. This is helped with The Survivalists’s unique Monkey Mimic system. Train up to 20 local primates to do tasks and help automate systems, from cooking and crafting to collecting resources.

And there’s more than survival. There’s also adventure. Players can explore labyrinths to find treasures. Or go on quests assigned by a mysterious stranger.

Plus, there’s no reason to feel lonely. Aside from all the moneys, The Survivalists lets four friends play together.

Team17’s The Survivalists can be played now on Apple Arcade. There are versions for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. It supports external controllers.

The game is also available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
