Customers who buy a new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac receive three months of access to Apple Arcade, Apple’s subscription gaming service.

They can also receive 12 months of free Apple TV+ access — but there’s a catch.

The Apple Arcade promotion will commence on October 22, and can be claimed so long as it is activated within three months of setting up the new device.

The service normally costs $4.99 per month for a collection of in-app purchase-free titles that are exclusively available on iOS through Apple Arcade.

Clarifying the Apple TV+ offer

Apple is also offering the same deal it did last year for a free year of Apple TV+ access to anyone who buys one of the aforementioned devices. Apple TV+ usually costs $9.99 per month on its own. That means that buying a new device nets you a saving of approximately $135, representing a decent chunk of the cost of a new iPhone.

However, this offer is only open to people who did not access the one year free offer last year. That means that if you planned to retain access to Apple TV+ by buying a new device each year, that is not possible.

Apple has been working hard to grow the Services part of its company for some years. Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade are just two of Apple’s subscription offerings, alongside Apple Music, Apple News+ and iCloud. The company has yet to reveal how well (or otherwise) the services are doing in terms of paying subscribers. A recent report suggested that both are still struggling to find their feet. It claimed that, last year, 15 percent of eligible customers signed up for Apple TV+. Meanwhile, subscriber growth has supposedly proven “weaker than expected” for Apple Arcade.

Apple is currently gearing up to launch an Apple One subscription bundle that will offer multiple subscriptions for a reduced fee.
