Apple and Goldman Sachs might cut you some slack on your credit card bill if you lost your job during the COVID-19 pandemic. Users of the Apple Card were notified today that they can apply to skip their May payment without interest charges being added.
Saved by the Apple Card Customer Assistance Program
Apple Card customers receive their April statements on Friday, May 1. And this includes a note offering to help people struggling financially. The coronavirus has lead to financial chaos, with over 30 million Americans losing their jobs in recent weeks.
“We understand that the COVID-19 situation poses unique challenges for everyone and some customers may have difficulty making their monthly payments,” says the statement from Apple Card Support. “Should you need assistance, please click here to be connected to Apple Card Support via Messages and enroll in our Customer Assistance Program, which will allow you to skip your May payment without incurring interest charges.”
Tapping on “click here” in the email starts a discussion with Apple Support that says “I would like to enroll in the Customer Assistance Program.”
Goldman Sachs, the bank the backs the Apple Card, made this same offer to waive interest charges last month. But those who took them up then need to re-enroll in May.
