MacStadium, a company which lets users rent out the latest Mac infrastructure for cloud-based servers, now offers M1 Mac mini among its options.
The company has long allowed users to rent Intel Macs for a variety of use cases. However, this is the first time it has added the debut Apple Silicon Macs to its list of options.
The configurations offer customers three data center locations for their Mac mini: Las Vegas or Atlanta in the United States, or Dublin, Ireland. You can also get additional storage options and firewalls.
Prices for a remote Mac mini server start at $109 per month for an M1 Mac mini with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The maximum option, a Mac mini with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, will set you back $149 per month. By comparison, renting an Intel-based Mac mini server starts at $59.
Enter Apple Silicon
Apple revealed the transition from Intel to Apple Silicon Macs at last year’s WWDC. The first Apple Silicon Macs, boasting the M1 chip, debuted at the end of last year. The Mac mini starts at $699, which covers the Mac mini unit itself. If you’re going to use it as your primary computer, and not simply as a server, you’ll also need to buy a monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
