Leviton is expanding its popular Decora Smart line of smart home products by introducing four new accessories that work without the need for a dedicated hub. The latest smart accessories include a pair of smart plugs and light switches, each of which supports Apple's HomeKit, Alexa, and the Google Assistant.
"Leviton is making it easier than ever for homeowners to add smart lighting control upgrades that match their unique homes and lifestyles with Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen and Anywhere Companions," said James Shurte, senior product manager, Leviton. "Designed with our customers in mind, these exciting new Leviton products take smart to the next level, making it easy and cost-effective to upgrade from standard switches and dimmers to attractive app- and voice-controlled solutions for the entire home."
Kicking things off is the Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi Mini Plug, which provides simple on and off functionality in a slim form-factor that doesn't block the other outlet on the wall. The smart plug supports a maximum of 15A for general-use loads, 5A for LED and CFL lighting, 1,500W for incandescent loads, and 3/4 HP motors loads.
Just like the Mini Plug, Leviton's new Decora Smart Wi-Fi Mini Plug-In Dimmer is a plug-and-play solution that adds dimming and on/off toggles to lamps and fixtures. The Plug-In Dimmer supports loads up to 100W for LED and CFL lighting and 300W incandescent loads. The dimmer also features full-range dimming and ensures that lower voltage bulbs turn off completely.
The second-generation Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi Switch and Smart Wi-Fi Dimmers replace traditional light switches bringing convenient controls for existing fixtures. Both the switch and dimmer are now easier to install as they are now slimmer in size and come with pre-attached leads. However, the latest switches require ground and neutral wiring in the wall box, which older homes may lack.
Smart features for the entire lineup include setting schedules and creating scenes through the My Leviton app available on iOS and Android. Pairing does not require an additional hub thanks to integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and all of the accessories work with automation and voice commands through the most popular smart home platforms.
