Apple's Head of Engineering for Apple Retail Diogo Rau is leaving the company after 10 years to join Lilly.
In a press release today Rau's new employer Eli Lilly and Company stated:
Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) announced today that Diogo Rau will join the company on May 17, 2021 as senior vice-president and chief information and digital officer. Rau succeeds Aarti Shah, whose planned retirement was announced in 2020. Shah will retire after 27 years of service to the company
As the release notes, Rau spent 10 years at Apple:
Rau most recently served as the top executive of information technology for retail and online stores at Apple, Inc. During his 10 years at Apple, he led the development and implementation of the technology supporting the Apple Online Store and Apple retail stores, including the e-commerce platform, mobile point of sale, the Apple Store App, and systems used by store team members.
The company said it was "excited to welcome Diogo" as the leader of Lilly's IT and digital capabilities, and its chairman and CEO David A. Ricks saying that Diogo's "expertise and leadership roles at Apple, along with his extensive experience in guiding technology strategy, will be invaluable to Lilly". Lilly is a global healthcare company that notably has developed COVID-19 antibody treatments used by the U.S. government in its fight against the pandemic.
In a LinkedIn post, Rau said:
After 10 amazing years, I am departing Apple to join Eli Lilly.To all my colleagues at Apple, it has been a privilege to work with you. You set the standard for the retail industry.
