What you need to know

  • New MacBooks from Apple could be on the way soon.
  • Jon Prosser says a new MacBook could feature bright color options just like the iMac.

A new report from serial Apple leaker Jon Prosser says Apple may adopt bright colors for a new MacBook, just as it did with the new iMac.

In his latest Front Page Tech report Prosser states that the same source that gave him information regarding the color options for the 2021 iMac, which turned out to be true, has told Prosser they have seen a colored MacBook prototype in blue that looked "absolutely amazing". Prosser says the source did not give him a timeline or any indication as to which MacBook this might be referring to.

Back in February, Prosser accurately leaked that Apple was planning to announce a new iMac with a major design overhaul, complete with a new range of color options. From that report:

A brand new story from serial Apple leaker Jon Prosser has revealed what could be the next design of Apple's brand new 2021 iMac featuring five color choices. We also got a look at Apple's rumored upcoming Mac Pro 'mini'. Apple is expected to replace its 2020 iMac later this year.In his latest video, Prosser notes reports of an iMac redesign, and that Apple isn't just coming with a redesign, but nostalgia too. That's because, on top of similar design language to Apple's Pro Display XDR and the new iPad Air, there are some new colors apparently on the way. In a stunning concept pictured below, Prosser might well have revealed the upcoming redesign of the iMac, based on leaks from various sources.

Prosser says he would assume the leak indicates Apple is planning multiple colors of MacBook just like the iMac or perhaps the iPad Air.

Apple is widely rumored to be planning new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, possibly featuring the mini-LED display recently debuted in the new iPad Pro. Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously echoed this, stating a new MacBook Air in 2022. All of these devices will of course feature Apple silicon as the company continues its transition away from Intel.

A redesigned and colorful MacBook was imagined in hot new concepts shared by Renders by Ian yesterday.
