Apple TV+ smash-hit Ted Lasso has picked up eight nominations from the Hollywood Critics Association ahead of its first-ever awards in August.

In a press release the HCA stated:

Leading the streaming nominations is Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso, which received eight nominations including Best Streaming Comedy Series, Best Actor for Jason Sudeikis, dual nominations in Best Supporting Actress for Juno Temple and Hannah Waddingham, and four nominations in Best Supporting Actor for Brendan Hunt, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift, and Nick Mohammed.

Also picking up nominations was 1971: The Year Music Changed Everything for Best Streaming Docuseries, Documentary Television Movie, or Non-Fiction Series, Mythic Quest for best comedy streaming series and best actor (Rob McElhenney), Dickinson's Hailee Steinfeld for best actress in a comedy streaming series, Mythic Quest's Danny Pudi for best supporting actor in a comedy streaming series, and Servant for best drama streaming service drama and best supporting actor (Rupert Grint). Apple took home a total of 15 nominations, including eight for Ted Lasso.

Last week reported that Ted Lasso still sits in the top ten of shows in the U.S. ahead of its season 2 debut on July 23. The show is also getting a third season announced earlier this year. The show is undoubtedly the biggest success story of Apple's foray into the world of streaming.

An official AFC Richmond merch store was recently opened online where customers can pick up jerseys and other items of memorabilia.
