What you need to know

  • OWC has announced Accelsior 8M2, a 64TB PCIe SSD.
  • The new cards are capable of real-world speeds up to 26,000MB/s.

OWC has today announced the Accelsior 8M2, a new PCIe SSD that boasts real-world speeds up to 26,000MB/s, according to the company. That, it says, makes this the "fastest drive available for 2019 Mac Pro."

Those speeds are insane, but you'll pay. Prices start at $1,2000 for the 2TB version, while the range-topper 64TB option will cost speed freaks $12,999. But if you're someone who needs a ton of storage that also happens to be incredibly fast, that might be worth every penny.

This beast destroys performance barriers – and every other PCIe SSD available today. So much so that we considered naming it the Annihil8r! We continuously push the boundaries of SSD capabilities so you can realize your true potential. With the Accelsior 8M2, we're taking you beyond your wildest dreams and into the most demanding applications imaginable with certified reliability. From M&E postproduction, to real-time AI, to huge dataset climate research… you now have the power to confidently reach higher.

The current Mac Pro might be getting ready for its Apple silicon refresh, but it's still the best Mac around for anyone who wants to be able to add this kind of storage to their machine. Whether you're shifting tons of high-resolution video or have virtual machines that need room to stretch their legs, this might be the PCIe SSD that you've been waiting for.

You can read more and place your orders over on the OWC website right now.
