Apple has hiked the Apple Music subscription price for students in many parts of the world.
The Cupertino company emailed students to inform them about the rise in the subscription price.
Apple Music student plan is now more expensive
The price increase is not uniform and varies from country to country. In India, the price of the student plan climbed by Rs 10 and now starts from Rs 70. In South Africa, a student received an email informing them that the price will rise from $1.49 per month to $1.99.
MacRumors reports that students in Australia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, Indonesia, Israel and Kenya will now have to shell out a bit more for their Apple Music subscriptions.
The discounted rate for U.S. students apparently will remain at $4.99 per month.
If you are already on the Apple Music student plan, the higher price will apply to the next billing cycle.
The increased price should not heavily impact existing Apple Music student plan subscribers. The tier remains one of the cheapest ways you can gain access to Apple’s music streaming service.
This move from the Cupertino company comes just a few months after it reduced the Apple Music trial period to just one month (down from three).

Students need to verify their eligibility using UniDays
Apple allows students to subscribe to Apple Music at a discounted rate for 48 months in several countries. Students must be enrolled in a degree-granting university or college to be eligible for the Apple Music student plan. During the signup process, the company requires students to verify their eligibility using the UniDays website.
Despite the Apple Music student plan costing less than half the full subscription price, it comes with all the benefits. This includes access to the entire music library and the ability to stream the songs in lossless quality.
