@BasicAppleGuy hit 100,000 followers on Twitter on August 03, 2022.

Sometime during the night of August 03, @BasicAppleGuy crossed the 100,000 follower mark on Twitter, and I wanted to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has followed, connected with me, and enjoyed the tweets, articles, and wallpapers I have put out these past 2.5 years.

A prolific Day One user, I looked back to find the entry on the day I created this account on February 06, 2020, where I wrote:

"Giving this a 20% chance of going anywhere, but I created a new Twitter handle to use for posting, interacting, and commenting on Apple-related news. We'll see..."

Just over 2.5 years since that entry, this adventure has expanded further than my wildest dreams. It's so funny; I have been such a fan of Apple at the same time that I have enjoyed writing and designing for years. But these were all islands, wholly separate from each other. It never occurred to me that these three passions could be unified into something that brought so much fulfillment to me and so much enjoyment to so many other people.

When I hit 25,000 followers, Mrs. BasicAppleGuy surprised me with mylar balloons. At 50,000, a half dozen of the softest, fluffiest, still-warm-from-the-oven donuts you’ve ever tasted was her treat to me. And finally, at 100,000, a 6-pack of custom-made beer labels was my reward!

And like some sort of compliment-deprived squirrel, I store all the kind words people have sent me over the years. They mean so much to me, and it helps make my day to know that wallpaper, post, or even a tweet I created meant something to someone; whether that helped them enjoy their device a little bit more, or just gave them a chuckle throughout their day. It’s been amazing to be a part of this Apple community.

So once again. Thanks for everything.
