Ted Lasso‘s AFC Richmond will be fully integrated into Electronic Arts’ FIFA 23 when it kicks off later in September. Lasso, Coach Beard and the biggest stars of the hit Apple TV+ show have all been digitized.

Mac, iPad and iPhone users will be able to play the upcoming sports title though Google Stadia cloud-gaming service.

Ted Lasso can coach your team in FIFA 23

Ted Lasso centers on a college football coach from Kansas hired by a professional soccer team in England, despite him knowing nothing about soccer. It was the first break-out hit for Apple’s streaming service, and its radical optimism has made it beloved by audiences and a critics’ darling.

Now the coach and his AFC Richmond club are moving from TV to gaming. Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, Sam Obisanya, Roy Kent, and Isaac McAdoo are all in FIFA 23. As is Nelson Road, the club’s home ground.

“I’ve got goosebumps. Seein’ my guys in CGI is so weird. Except Roy for some reason,” says Lasso in a tweet.

Players have the option to swap AFC Richmond into the Premier League where it is available in Kick-Off, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons. And players can choose Ted Lasso as their manager in Career Mode.

Kick off is next week

FIFA 23 launches worldwide September 30. As noted, it’ll be included in Google Stadia where it’ll be playable on a variety of Apple computers. The title is also coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Perhaps this will help tide fans of Ted Lasso over until Season 3 premieres. That’s expected before the end of 2022, but no definite date has been announced.
