When the Apple Watch Ultra launches September 23 there’ll be a software update waiting for it. Apple on Thursday released watchOS 9.0.1 specifically to fix bugs in the new wearable.

Other Apple Watch models are expected to get their own update in the near future.

watchOS 9.0.1 is only for Apple Watch Ultra

With its 49mm display, Apple Watch Ultra is the biggest wearable to ever come out of Cupertino. It offers plenty of features for outdoor enthusiasts, but even couch potatoes are intrigued by the large screen and long battery life.

When it starts reaching customers on Friday, they’ll find watchOS 9.0.1 waiting for them. This offers bug fixes, including one where “Audio could be distorted during phone calls using speakers,” according to Apple’s release notes. General improvements are also promised.

More updates on the way

Users of other Apple Watch models should not go looking for this update, though. watchOS 9.0.1 is only for the Ultra.

But that doesn’t mean Apple is ignoring all its other wearables. watchOS 9 debuted on September 12 for a range of models, and version 9.1 has been in testing for a couple of weeks. It’s expected in October, and small bug fix updates might be out before then.
